The D&H Canal

A walk through history

You would have been fortunate indeed to visit
High Falls in the heyday of the D&H canal. Today, you can
trace the magnificent engineering of this famous canal, not only
through a working model of a lock and dioramas in the museum
but by following the towpath, locks 16 to 20.

Sunday Flea Market

Spring through autumn

To experience High Fall’s exhilarating mix
of local people and celeb second homers you can’t do better than
visit Sundays mid-May thru October when this traditional flea
market is in session.

Places to Eat

Chefs on Fire

Great all day

Duck to avoid the rough-carved beams, you’ll
find yourself surrounded by old wood posts and stone walls. Here,
Chef John Novi has created a richly rewarding cafe and bakery.
Country. 96 Route 213.

Egg’s Nest Saloon

High Falls’ version of Alice
in Wonderland.

Food: simple, wholesome and delicious. Great
place for a meal or snack any time of day. Ambience: has been
extraordinary, along the lines of Gaudi and the Watts Towers.
Generally a cheerful and hip place.
